Mattwood Homes Story
Mattwood Construction is entering the 50th year as a new homebuilder
and land developer in the Hamilton and Burlington area. Founder
Joseph S. Mattiacci built his first one floor home on Garth Street
in Hamilton in 1956. Next, he went on to build in the Buchanan
Park Survey and various other locations on the Hamilton Mountain.
The Dynes Road Survey in Burlington was soon on the list of Mattwoods
accomplishments. As Burlington continued to grow into the sixties
and seventies, Mattwood also continued to build in many of Burlington’s
premier neighbourhoods. They included Strathcona Gardens, Glenwood
School Drive are, Pineland, Geneva Park, White Pines, Parkway Woods
in Mountain Gardens, Ireland Estates, Roseland and Amherst Heights.
In the late seventies Lou joined his father and continued the
Mattwood tradition of building quality homes in Albion Estates,
Dewitt Park and Dewitt Heights in Stoney Creek. In the mid eighties
Mattwood was back in Burlington providing over three hundred
families with homes in the Brant Hills Survey as well as the
Palmer Community. It is here that Joe Jr. joined the company.
From the late eighties to the early nineties Mattwood provided
many homes for the move up market in Walkers Heights, Tyandaga
Woods, Headon Estates and the exclusive downtown enclave at the
old Wellington Square School site, The Meadows of Yorkshire. Next
came the golf course communities of Fairway Glen and the executive
homes of Dalecroft in Millcroft.
Entering into the new millennium Mattwood provided homes for the
starter and empty nesters with The Orchard Green Freehold Towns
on Dryden Avenue. Not far away on Orchard Road, Mattwood developed
the Orchard Green Subdivision and built 41 single-family residences
catering to the young family.
